Leibnizian Cosmological Argument For God’s Existence

Does God exist? The Leibnizian cosmological argument concludes that God does exist and that we can have good reason to believe he exists. One version of the argument goes as follows,

1. Every existing thing has an explanation of its existence, either in the necessity of its own nature or in an external cause.
2. If the universe has an explanation of its existence, that explanation is God.
3. The universe is an existing thing.
4. Therefore the explanation of the existence of the universe is God.

Does this prove that the Christian God, with all of his many attributes, exists? No. But if the argument is successful, it does get us one big step closer to that God.
